Praised by Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Ilsa Madden-Mills as "the usual Grey crisp writing, lovable heroes that you kinda want to slap, and a heroine that doesn't back down."
Hockey star Nolan Solvenson is nothing short of skilled perfection, both on and off the ice. Or so everyone thinks. His teammates are constantly hitting him up for advice, but really, when it comes to his own life, Nolan can't seem to make the right moves anymore.
Blame it all on Lainey Shelburne, a woman he wants but is determined to keep at arm's length. That's why, after a few sexy encounters, he unceremoniously blows her off.
When they're reunited, facing off against the fiery cocktail waitress becomes the challenge of his life. Lainey is furious with him for dumping her and wants nothing more than to kick him in the junk. But Nolan--typical man--is only interested in getting Lainey back in his bed.
That plan is shot all to hell when they reach a shaky truce and Lainey drops the bomb that all she's looking for now is a "just friends" relationship with Nolan.
Take that, Mr. Hot Right Winger!
Suddenly, the "know-it-all" athlete is skating on thin ice as he tries to hide his burgeoning feelings from the one woman who has the ability to thaw his heart. But is Lainey willing to try a relationship with him again? Can Nolan resist the urge to walk away?
Resistance on Ice is a fun standalone novel and the second installment in the bestselling Boys of Winter hockey romance series.

I'm liking this series so far, romcom sports romance. S.R. Grey does good on the hockey aspect. Lainey and Nolan have been seeing each other on the down low, no strings attached. When Lainey wants to define things with him she gets the brush off. Leading to their I want each other but the other won't be serious arrangement. From what we know Nolan is a party animal, loves the ladies and no cares. I mean he can come off as cocky and all but he has a loner way about him too. What we find out is that he has issues and skeletons. I'm curious what made this guy such a commitment phobe and all his avoidance of questions. He needs to get past all that holding him back if he wants to move forward with Lainey. The lines blur a lot between the now friendzone and the hot lovers. I felt for Lainey but she needed to be stronger only way Nolan will shape up.
At times I wanted her to ditch him but the heart wants want it wants or maybe lust wins over sometimes. Their relationship can be good but frustrating too. I didn't quite get the feel strongly aside from the physical for Lainey and Nolan to be honest but they were fun and entertaining to read. I would've wanted her to make him work for it. But that's them. Overall a good addition to the series, still upbeat and light I still liked book one more but I enjoyed this installment. What I'm truly interested in is the new character introduced here Eliza and Benny's book. Maybe Dylan too those sound meaty.

Resistance on Ice Boys of Winter Book 2 edition by SR Grey Romance eBooks Reviews
Lainey Shelbourne is a fiesty, determined woman, who knows what she wants. For awhile, it was just having a few flirtations and hook-ups while she finished her degree. One serious hook-up with a hot right wing hockey player from Vegas. Every time they where in Minnesota, they would get together. But when it came to becoming serious...well, let's just say that a certain right winger became a ghost. He broke up with her right after a hook up on the team bus when she asked for more.
Now, she is living with her sister and her soon-to-be brother-in-law, Brent Oliver. She can only take so many spa days and lunches with her sister before she's going to claw someone's eyes out--namely her beloved sister's. She takes a job as a cocktail waitress at one of the many casinos in Vegas. Her "uniform" makes Nolan a bit uncomfortable. She secretly loved it. Why not show him what he passed up on--until they have sex in her room minutes after walking in the door. That's when she decides that she's going to friend-zone Nolan. Hopefully, she can hold out. Lord he looks gorgeous on the ice. Even better when they are sitting by his pool. If they can learn to build a friendship, they can build a lasting relationship together. Right?
3.5 - 4 stars
Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes. Throw in the fact that this is also a romcom sports romance and I was sold! Resistance on Ice is book 2 in the interconnected Boys of Winter series, but can be read as a stand alone. Since we meet our hero and heroine in Destiny on Ice, however, readers may want to read the books in order for maximum enjoyment.
I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with both Lainey and Nolan. They could be so incredibly sweet and wonderful (both together and individually), but then turn around and do something amazingly stupid. Their lack of communication and the withholding of true feelings only highlighted their immature relationship. I was definitely happy to see it evolve through the course of the book.
Nolan's sexual history in particular may be a little hard for some to accept, especially because it's not really that far in the past. I am generally not a fan of the manwhore hero, and I think to have those details thrown right into the readers face right from the start was a little jarring. It made it harder for him to redeem himself in my eyes, but it also made the ending that much sweeter. I would have preferred Lainey have a little more backbone when it came to Nolan as well. Sadly, she came across as a bit of a doormat for a good portion of the book. One thing I really enjoyed though, was the gift Brent and Aubrey gave to Nolan and Lainey! It was the perfect nod to book 1! ;)
I do recommend listening to the audiobook if at all possible. The narrator, Reagan West, does a wonderful job performing both characters and really adds another layer to the story. The seeds were planted for a story between Benny and Eliza and I'm looking forward to book 3, Complications on Ice.
Another great read by this author! I can not get enough of the characters in the " Boys of Winter" series. Thank you for coming through again!
Loved this book, can't wait for Benny' s book. I've never been big on hockey books but this author is making me a FAN
LOVING this series! Nolan rocks as a reformed bad boy!! Highly recommend
As always Ms Grey puts out another fantastic, juicy read. Her characters are always sexy and loveable. Hooked from the get go. I can see myself reading this one again soon. I think I liked it more than the 1st installment, and I absolutely loved that one as well
